Drama Classes

A great many students are unaware we even teach Drama! We are keen to build the Drama at the studio... Therefore we are offering all students, existing or new, that would like to try Drama and who do not currently attend Drama class with us a FREE term in Drama from September to December. We have a Drama class on Thursdays at 4:15-5:00pm for age 8-12 and also a senior Drama class on Thursdays at 6:00-7:00pm. If students under the age of 8 are keen to start Drama then please let us know and we will start a new Drama class for under 8's from half term. We also provide students with the opportunity to take Drama exams in the LAMDA syllabus if they wish.

James Rushbrooke teaches all Drama classes at the studio, he is an experienced and passionate teacher who has become a great addition to the Danceworks team. Drama is excellent for strengthening social skills whilst improving student's confidence. We have had great feedback from our existing classes and have found it to be beneficial to students who want to attend class for fun and for students who need Drama as part of their dance training if they want us to put them forward onto the audition circuit for professional schools both in Ballet and Musical Theatre, as Drama greatly improves students stage presentation skills.

Increasingly we are being asked each year to ‘crash course' students through Drama pieces for auditions and as a teacher it is an impossible task to cram several years' worth of work into just one year. It is very sad to see students struggling through the Drama section at Dance auditions because they have left it too late to join class. Dance and Drama that is taught within academic school although fun, is not enough on its own to hold students in good stead for the professional world.
